I highly recommend "The parable of the princesses" by Jenny Phillips.

Christmas Concert
I so ache to be keeping you more up to date! I am so busy it makes me sick-- working and looking for a house has been enough and now throw in getting ready for birthdays and Christmas! Our ward was dissolved a few weeks ago. We are now part of the Pioneer 2nd Ward (instead of Rivergrove 3rd Ward.) We were all instantly released from our callings. So, I was actually officially calling free for a couple of weeks. (Ahh, big sigh of relief!) But, as of this last Sunday, I am now 2nd Counselor in the Young Women's organization. (I knew it wouldn't last!) This will be fun, but the Bishop did not encourage me by adding that this women's organization is busier than the last one I was involved in (referring to Relief Society!) Great! :)
Anyways, I wanted to be quick and just put some little video clips on here. Sunday, Dec. 6th my kids did a Christmas concert for our relatives who live close by. I wanted to share some of it with you. (I am sorry the video quality is so terrible, but it gives you an idea of what was going on.) We love you and miss you and hope you have a wonderful Christmas season!
(That was NOT quick to load these, but oh, well! Love ya!)

Summer Happenings Update
We got pre-approved for a house loan, so we are hopeful that we may actually get to move sometime soon. We are seriously house hunting now. It's fun, but hard to have the time for everything.
Let's see, what have we done lately? We read the book "The Giver" as a family and on June 4th, Chantilly and I went to the play at BYU. It was really well done.
In May, I was called to be the 2nd counselor in Relief Society. I am still the Enrichment Leader as well. My committee has dwindled and I actually only have one other sister on the committee with me! We're hoping that a new leader and whole new committee will be called soon! :) In the meantime, we're just not planning a lot. It's okay, our ward has really dwindled for the summer too.
June 11th, we left our house at 7AM and went to do a tree job in Castledale, UT for a friend of Brian's. We enjoyed the day working for and visiting with them. That evening, we went to have dinner, games, and spend the night at my Uncle Leo's house. The next morning, Leo, Geraldine, and Krista showed us some sights close by along the San Rafael River-- some pictographs and petroglyphs, the Swinging Bridge, and the Wedge. We saw lots of lizards, the kids loved trying to catch them, but never succeeded; also lots of noisy cicadas!
Also in June, Chantilly and Charice went camping with the Girl Scouts. Christian went to Scout Camp for a week.
We were in Beaver July 2-4. The better part of the 2-3 were spent helping Brian with a tree job. On the Fourth we got to enjoy the Fourth of July parade and Butch Cassidy Festival.
Chantilly took a fencing class for six weeks-- every Monday May 29th to July 6th. She loved it!
We are having fun reading and participating in our local library's summer reading programs. The twins have really gotten into the Boxcar Children series. They also read some of the Sweet Valley Twins-- Thank goodness I kept my collection! Our library doesn't really have any because they are out of print! I really enjoyed reading "the Host" by Stephenie Meyer. It was really interesting. As a family, we have gotten into the Overlander series (That begins with "Gregor the Overlander"). We love it! We only just started reading the newest Fablehaven book and are excited to finally read that! Of course, we are looking forward to the new Harry Potter movie!
Before we know it school will start again on Aug. 18th!
Enough for now. Hope you are having a great summer!

Jumpin Jacks
We (as a family) went to Jumpin Jacks in Springville, Utah on February 23, 2009. We had a lot of fun. Here is their website if you are interested in going sometime: http://www.jumpinjackskids.com/
I hope you enjoy this video of Brian enjoying some play time! It makes me smile! :) You'll also see Christian standing there; Chantilly goes down the slide on the right; and Charice does her own thing on the left.
(I guess I should also note that there is not sound, so don't worry about that.)

My Mom was in a car accident Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009 9AM
She got an ambulance ride and lots of x-rays. Nothing broken or even bleeding, but she is bruised up everywhere and sore. I talked to her Saturday evening. Her biggest complaints were her right ankle is sprained and her right hand is very bruised and her thumb is sore. I am sure glad she is okay. I hope she is feeling a little better today. I love you, Mom!
Funny-- Christian finding coins in couches May 14, 2006
You've got to write things down that make you smile. I just came across a funny the other day I had written down a few years ago (May 14, 2006 to be exact). At the time, Christian had pennies taped on his wall-- he was trying to collect at least one from every year. Brian had just given him a book that tells the worth of different coins that day. When I went to kiss Christian good night he said "There are lots of old coins in here . . . I'll never find them all! . . . I was thinking, we could go to a junkyard . . . you know, where they have lots of old couches . . . and stuff . . . and we could reach under the cushions . . . " (I am now laughing-- I get it!) "What?!" he says, "You can find lots of money in old couches!" He was so serious; I was laughing my head off. That is a priceless memory!
Thought I'd share. Have a great day. Keep smiling.

Christian is a Deacon
Christian turned 12 yrs. old on Jan. 3rd. He was ordained to be a Deacon in the Aaronic Priesthood on Sunday, January 4th. We were grateful to our loved ones who were able to be there with us on this important occasion-- Rebecca, Jerry, Adam, Jonathan, Carma, and my uncle Ron. Yesterday, Jan. 11th, Christian helped pass the sacrament for the first time. I was so proud. He claims he was nervous, but he looked like a pro to me!
Charice had a seizure Dec. 19, 2008
School had got out early that day as it was the beginning of Christmas break. What a way to begin the break!
Charice, Chantilly, and I were shopping at Macey's grocery store when Chantilly and I noticed Charice was not behind us. We walked back an aisle or two to find her on the floor having a seizure. There was a man halfway up the aisle that seemed to have seen it happening. He didn't think she had hit her head or anything as a box nearby seemed to have broken her fall. The seizure must have lasted 2-3 minutes. I think I remained pretty calm. I knew with seizures that there is not much you can do besides make sure they do not hurt themselves. I put my hand under her head so she was not banging it on the hard floor and tried to talk to her, but she was not aware of her surroundings for a long time. The hard part was not having her coherent for most of the next two hours. I didn't realize it took so long to come back out of it! There also happened to be a nurse shopping at Macey's who
came to help while Charice was still having her seizure. It was nice to have someone professionally knowledgeable so close at hand. Another couple came up behind us and asked if we wanted them to call 9-1-1. I told him I wasn't sure since I knew not all
seizures require that. He went ahead and called. It was nice that he did. I'm glad to have all the assurances of the professionals. The paramedics were there quickly. (It helps too that Macey's is just across the street from the hospital.) She was blue from
lack of oxygen, so they gave her oxygen and took a blood sample. Not knowing what was going on (including what she was doing), Charice was thrashing around, not wanting the oxygen mask on and making a mess of the blood sample.
Chantilly had a hard time watching all of this. She was obviously worried about her sister. A store manager named Steve tried to get her a candy or something, but Chantilly was not interested. In our shopping, (among other things) we had gotten a container of cottage cheese and a bag of cheese puffs. Since Steve could not convince Chantilly to get a candy, I suggested those-- which I felt would be better anyway since we were hungry and had expected to be going home for dinner quickly. I told Steve we would pay him back, but he said not to worry about it. How nice. On the way out to the ambulance, Chantilly decided to get a Kit-Kat as well. We rode in the ambulance with Charice to keep her company. We talked to her and thought we had some response from her, but she does not remember the ambulance ride at all. She was surprised later when we told her that she had ridden in a ambulance. The paramedics gave both Charice and Chantilly a teddy bear to hold. (Actually, Chantilly's looks like the puppy Marley from John Grogan’s book/ movie.)
The seizure occurred about 4:25 or 4:30PM. It was about 5:00PM when I got a chance to call Brian and let him know we were at the hospital. He and Christian were there by 5:30. They stayed for a while and then the two of them took Chantilly home for dinner and to let Teresa know what was going on as well. (Teresa had been watching a movie at home while the rest of us had run a couple of "quick" errands.) Charice received an IV while she was there. A Cat Scan showed nothing wrong with her brain. We
do not know what caused the seizure and we hope that it does not happen again. Before she went in for the Cat Scan, Charice had just fallen asleep and I was kind of sad to have to disturb her for that. When she came out of the Cat Scan though, I soon had a
very silly grin, because my little girl was back! She was talking my ear off about that strange machine! Her bright eyes, smiles, and chattiness were back! It only took about five minutes before they were telling us her results of the Cat Scan and also the blood
showed she was low in potassium, which they thought was strange and gave her some in a some apple juice which it took her until the next morning to drink the whole thing. Brian came back to the hospital about that time with some food for me and a book. Then we left. We went to Macey's to get the van. I had Brian take Charice home while I went in Macey's to get the things we had been shopping for and to let the manager, Steve, know that Charice was okay. I was back home at 8:00PM straight up. We spent quite a bit of time talking as a family going through the whole event so that everyone, especially Charice, would know exactly what had happened. They went to bed about 9:30, but before that, Charice had been up and dancing around plenty! I was a amazed.
It was scary to have her have a seizure. It came out of nowhere. They say it’s common to not know the cause and also to not have another. I hope it never happens again. She brags about having had a seizure! She’s a survivor!
